These are all scanned photos of Mesa Verde National Park from our trip to western parks in 2002. We were very fortunate that we visited just before the park was evacuated due to wildfires.
Cliff Palace from the overlook. There's a tour right now, which gives a nice
sense of scale.
Balcony House. You enter by climbing the stairs in the lower right, going across
the house, then climbing through a tunnel to some stairs that take you to the
road, which is on top of the cliff. You can't see Balcony House from the road;
this is from an overlook on a trail a little bit down the road.
We saw this little guy on the same trail.
Step house. Hardly anybody goes there, partially because they're still working
on a new trail. The person is a ranger waiting patiently for somebody to come.
When we arrived she hadn't seen anybody in 45 minutes.
